Dr. Dean
Dr. Dean Springer was born in 1969, attended Merrivale Preparatory school, then Presentation College. After High school he attended the Regional Educational Programme for Animal Health Assistants (R.E.P.A.H.A), obtaining a diploma in animal health and veterinary public health, after which he worked as an animal health assistant in the veterinary services unit in the ministry of agriculture from 1990-1995. During this period he gained a certificate in equine dentistry.
In 1995 he resigned from his post as a civil servant, and enrolled in the University of the West Indies , School of Veterinary Medicine, from which he graduated in 2000.
Dr. Dean as he is often called, is passionate about horses and horse racing, the former jockey, turned veterinarian has the best view of the races from the roof of the grand stand at the Garrison Savannah, where he is a race caller for the Barbados Turf Club.
His other passions are motorsports and golf. Unfortunately time constraints have not allowed him to spend as much time as he would like on the golf course to work on his game.
